Swiss-DR Congo right-back Benjamin Kabeya has completed his move into the BSC Young Boys first-team squad from the club’s U21 side. The 25-year-old defender has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Swiss Super League champions.
Bern-born Kabeya, who stands at 1.80m and plays primarily at right-back, has been part of the Young Boys system for much of his career and now secures a full promotion into the senior set-up. His contract underlines the club’s decision to elevate a player developed in-house rather than looking externally for defensive reinforcements.
Kabeya arrives in the first-team group on the back of extensive experience in Swiss lower-league football. He has made more than 110 appearances in the Promotion League, contributing both defensively and with the occasional goal, and previously featured in the 1. Liga as well as at various youth levels.
The defender first came through the Young Boys youth ranks, representing the club in the U17 and U18 Elite Leagues and the UEFA Youth League. He moved from Young Boys’ U21s to North Carolina in 2022, before returning to Switzerland with FC Biel-Bienne in early 2023. Later that year he rejoined Young Boys’ U21s on a free transfer, rebuilding his path back towards the Super League.
Kabeya has already had a brief taste of top-flight football, making one previous Super League appearance for Young Boys. He was part of the senior squad that won the Swiss title in the 2023-24 season and now becomes a full member of the first team after his promotion on 17 July 2026.
