Angolan midfielder Beni Mukendi of Vitoria Guimaraes is being linked with a move to LaLiga club Real Betis as the Spanish side assess midfield options ahead of the new season.
Mukendi, 24, has emerged as a key figure in central midfield for Guimaraes in Liga Portugal, making 88 league appearances and contributing one goal and six assists. His performances in the Portuguese top flight have drawn increasing attention, with Betis understood to be tracking his situation as they consider reinforcing the centre of their squad.
Guimaraes invested in the Angola international’s development when they signed him from Casa Pia in February 2025 for a reported €3m fee. Since then he has helped the club to silverware, lifting the Portuguese League Cup in the 2025-26 campaign, further raising his profile in European scouting circles.
Born in Luanda and comfortable operating as a right-footed central midfielder, Mukendi has also gained initial exposure to continental competition, featuring in the UEFA Europa Conference League for Guimaraes. His current market valuation stands at around €4m, a figure that would form a reference point in any negotiations.
Any attempt by Betis to complete a deal is likely to be complicated by Mukendi’s contract situation. He is tied to Vitoria Guimaraes until 30 June 2029, putting the Portuguese club in a strong position to demand a significant return on their 2025 outlay if interest from Spain develops into a formal bid.
