Barcelona beat Aston Villa as Lamine Yamal and Raphinha shine in Champions League

Barcelona moved up the Champions League standings with a convincing 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at Spotify Camp Nou on matchday four of the league phase.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring after only seven minutes, producing a superb curling finish with his left foot that gave the Aston Villa goalkeeper no chance.

The early goal allowed Barcelona to take control of the contest. Their technical quality in midfield helped them dominate possession and restrict Aston Villa’s opportunities to build attacks.

Barcelona doubled their advantage seven minutes after half-time. Raphinha met a precise cross from Joao Cancelo and finished cleanly in the 52nd minute to put the hosts firmly in command.

With the pressure relieved by the second goal, Barcelona continued to attack with greater confidence. Aston Villa struggled to cope with the Spanish side’s sustained pressure, and their defence was increasingly stretched as the match progressed.

Raphinha completed the scoring in the 64th minute, securing his second goal of the game by finding the back of the net and effectively ending any prospect of an Aston Villa comeback.

The result gives Barcelona nine points and represents a significant rise in the overall Champions League standings following their impressive European performance at Spotify Camp Nou.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the season in the Champions League. Despite the loss, they remain provisionally well placed in the competition, also having collected nine points.
