Bamba Dieng pushing for Senegal return after prolific run with Lorient

Bamba Dieng could be edging closer to a return to the Senegal national team as the next international window approaches, following his performances in France at club level.

The striker has been in good scoring form for FC Lorient this season, with 12 goals in 13 appearances.

His lethal attribute has made him one of the most prolific Senegalese attackers abroad so far this season.

Dieng’s form comes after a period when he was largely absent from the national team setup.

However, the 25-year-old’s recent performances have reportedly prompted head coach Pape Thiaw to reassess his attacking options ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

Senegal are set to play two friendly matches during the March international break as part of their preparations for the FIFA World Cup.

The Lions of Teranga will first face Peru team on March 28 before meeting Gambia three days later.

Those fixtures will offer the coaching staff an opportunity to assess their team ahead of the global tournament.

Senegal have been drawn in Group I alongside Norway national team and France, with one additional opponent yet to be confirmed.

His goals have played an important role in helping the club remain competitive in the Ligue 1 standings.

Lorient sit ninth on the table with 37 points.

Before joining Lorient, Dieng had already gained valuable experience in European, having feautured for Olympique de Marseille, where he demonstrated flashes of his quality.
