Bachir Belloumi has been nominated for Hull City’s Goal of the Month award for September after his two goals against Chelsea helped him stand out during the opening weeks of the season.
The Algeria international scored twice in six minutes during Hull City’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, earning a place on the club’s four-goal shortlist for the monthly award.
Belloumi, 24, is competing for the prize alongside Hull team-mate Mohamed Ali Shaw and Alfie Bray.
Shaw was nominated for his goal against Newcastle United in the Premier League, while Bray’s strike for Hull City’s Under-18 side against Bristol City completes the shortlist.
Belloumi’s nomination follows an impressive start to his first Premier League season with Hull City. He has made five appearances in the competition, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Those contributions give him four goal involvements so far in the league and have established him as one of Hull’s notable performers during the early part of the campaign.
His display against Chelsea was the standout moment of September. Belloumi struck twice in quick succession at Stamford Bridge as Hull secured a 2-2 draw against the London side.
The Algerian has also made an impact at international level during the current break.
Belloumi scored his first goal for Algeria in their 2-2 draw against Burundi in the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
He did not score or provide an assist in Algeria’s opening qualifier against Zambia, but found the net against Burundi to mark his first international goal.
His progress has also placed him among the players being considered as potential successors to former Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez, who has retired from international football.
Belloumi is competing for a place on the right side of Algeria’s attack alongside Feyenoord forward Anis Hadj Moussa and other emerging players.
The Hull City forward could have another opportunity to add to his international record when Algeria face Niger in a friendly on Tuesday, 6 October.
The match is scheduled to take place at the Hussein Ait Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, east of the Algerian capital, and would be Belloumi’s third appearance for the national team.
For now, attention remains on the Hull City award, with Belloumi’s two goals against Chelsea competing for the club’s September Goal of the Month prize.
His nomination caps a month in which the winger has made an impact for both club and country, scoring his first Algeria goal while continuing to contribute goals and assists for Hull City in the Premier League.
