Aurelien Tchouameni has returned to Cameroon during the international break to continue his charitable work with the Manjo Children’s Home, a facility supporting vulnerable children.
The Real Madrid midfielder was not selected for France during this window and has used the break to visit the country where his parents are from. The 26-year-old has travelled to Manjo, in the Moungo department of the Littoral region.
Tchouameni spent time with children and staff at the home, with which he has developed a close relationship through his Prosperi endowment fund. His latest visit continues an initiative he began almost two years ago.
In December 2024, Tchouameni visited Manjo with members of his family to open a multi-sports complex financed entirely by his foundation. The facility allows the children to play football, basketball, tennis, handball and volleyball.
During that visit, the France international shared time with the residents, handing out sporting equipment and taking part in a football match. The project is particularly important to him because of his belief in the role sport can play in children’s development.
Prosperi’s support has extended beyond sporting facilities. Last April, the organisation arranged a free campaign to screen for eye diseases among children and staff at the Manjo Children’s Home.
Born in Rouen, Tchouameni remains strongly connected to Cameroon, his parents’ country of origin. His family has particular links to Bana, in the Western region, and the midfielder has made several visits to the country.
When he was in Cameroon in December 2024, Tchouameni spoke about the importance of that connection, saying he felt “at home” there and wanted to continue developing various projects in the country.
The visit comes during a period away from competitive football for the 2022 World Cup runner-up. Tchouameni was left out of France’s squad as he continues his return to full fitness following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
He will now return to Real Madrid after spending part of his break in the country of his roots and renewing his support for the children’s home.
