Atletico de Madrid have rejected an initial approach to sign Victor Osimhen after intermediaries proposed the Nigeria striker in a deal worth an estimated €75m.
According to journalist Nacho Donado, Galatasaray are considering allowing their leading goalscorer to leave before the end of the transfer window and are prepared to listen to offers. The Turkish club would be involved in any potential agreement for Osimhen, who remains under contract in Istanbul until 30 June 2029.
Osimhen is reportedly attracted by the prospect of joining Atletico and playing under manager Diego Simeone. The Nigeria international would also be willing to accept a significant reduction in salary to help make a move to the Spanish club possible.
However, Atletico’s directors remain cautious about the financial terms of the proposal. The €75m figure is already viewed as too high, while the LaLiga club believes Galatasaray could ultimately demand an even larger fee for their most important attacking player.
As a result, Atletico have turned down the first approach. At this stage, a move for Osimhen to the Metropolitano appears difficult, with the club only likely to consider such a substantial investment if one of their current forwards departs.
The two possible exits identified are Julian Alvarez or Alexander Sørloth. Without the sale of one of those attackers, Atletico are not expected to pursue the proposed deal for Osimhen.
Osimhen’s willingness to lower his salary could help negotiations, but it has not changed Atletico’s view of the transfer fee. The 27-year-old currently earns an annual salary of €18,750,000, equivalent to 12,187,500,000 FCFA.
His market value is also estimated at €75m by Transfermarkt, matching the figure cited in the proposed operation. Nevertheless, the Spanish club’s concern is that Galatasaray may seek more than that amount before agreeing to release their main attacking asset.
For now, Osimhen remains fully committed to Galatasaray despite the renewed transfer speculation. The Nigeria international continues to be linked with a possible move, but Atletico’s rejection means the proposed switch to the Metropolitano is not currently close to completion.
Any further progress would depend on several conditions: Galatasaray would need to accept suitable terms, Osimhen would have to complete the salary sacrifice already reported, and Atletico would likely need to sell either Julian Alvarez or Alexander Sørloth first. Until then, the striker remains tied to the Istanbul club, with his contract running through June 2029.
