AS FAR supporter seriously injured during CAF Champions League final in Pretoria

A supporter of AS FAR suffered serious injuries during the first leg of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns FC at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Moroccan supporter, identified as “Amin,” reportedly fell from the upper section of the stadium during the match and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Pretoria for urgent medical treatment.

The incident occurred during a difficult evening for AS FAR supporters, as the Moroccan club suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the continental final.

According to reports from Moroccan media, initial medical examinations revealed that the supporter sustained multiple serious injuries following the fall.

Doctors reportedly diagnosed fractures affecting the hand, shoulder, rib cage and arm, raising growing concern among supporters following the chaotic scenes surrounding the match in Pretoria.

Reports also indicate that the Embassy of Morocco in South Africa is expected to intervene to monitor the supporter’s condition closely and provide the necessary assistance.

Due to the severity of the injuries, there are concerns that the fan could eventually require medical evacuation to Morocco aboard a specially equipped ambulance aircraft, pending approval from medical authorities.

As of the time of reporting, AS FAR had not issued an official statement regarding the incident or clarified what support may be provided to the injured supporter.

The accident further intensified an already tense atmosphere around the final, where reports of crowd disturbances and security incidents also emerged during the encounter.

Attention now shifts to the return leg in Rabat on May 24, where AS FAR will attempt to overturn the one-goal deficit in front of their home supporters.
