Amr Gamal urges Al Ahly SC to target Pyramids recruitment chief

Former Al Ahly SC midfielder Amr Gamal has urged the club to make an immediate move for Pyramids FC contracts director Amr Bassiouni, describing him as the “missing piece” in Al Ahly’s football structure.

Gamal believes the Egyptian giants have lacked strong scouting and recruitment expertise in recent years and insisted Bassiouni’s profile could help improve the club’s transfer strategy.

“If I worked at Al Ahly, I would sign Amr Bassiouni from Pyramids immediately by any means, because he represents the missing piece at the club,” Gamal said.

The former midfielder praised Bassiouni’s eye for talent and his ability to secure quality players at relatively low costs.

He specifically pointed to the recruitment of Mohamed El Sheibi, Blati Touré and Fiston Mayele, all of whom became key performers after arriving at Pyramids for modest fees.

Former Al Ahly defender Ahmed El Sheikh also backed Bassiouni’s credentials, describing him as one of the strongest recruitment specialists in Egyptian football and a figure capable of strengthening Al Ahly’s sporting structure.

However, ex-Zamalek SC striker Bassem Morsy disagreed with the idea, arguing that it would be unreasonable for Al Ahly to attempt to recruit every successful figure working within rival clubs in Egyptian football.

The debate comes amid increasing discussion around recruitment structures and sporting management within Egypt’s top clubs as competition intensifies both domestically and continentally.
