Al Ahly target in-form Moroccan striker Benjedida

Egyptian club Al Ahly SC are exploring a move for Moroccan forward Soufiane Benjedida as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the next transfer window.

Reports from Egyptian media suggest the Cairo-based side have already made initial contact to gather information about the player’s contractual situation with Maghreb Fez. The approach forms part of a wider recruitment strategy aimed at reinforcing key areas of the squad in preparation for the upcoming season.

Benjedida, 27, has emerged as a leading candidate on Al Ahly’s shortlist. According to the programme “Al-Kora Ma’a Fayeq” broadcast on MBC Egypt, he is among three forwards currently under close evaluation by the club’s technical team. Another name under consideration is Moroccan striker Ryan Mmaee, who is currently playing in Cyprus.

Al Ahly are understood to be keen on adding further Moroccan talent to their squad, which already includes players such as Youssef Belamri and Achraf Bencharki. The club’s interest in Benjedida reflects both his recent performances and their broader recruitment focus.

However, any potential deal could prove complicated. Maghreb Fez have taken steps to strengthen their position by extending the striker’s contract until 2030. The move is widely interpreted as an attempt to increase his market value and provide the club with greater leverage in negotiations.

The Moroccan side are reportedly reluctant to part ways with one of their key players unless a significant offer is made. While Benjedida’s market value is believed to be around €1.3 million, reports indicate that Al Ahly could be prepared to offer approximately $2 million if they decide to formalise their interest.

Much of the growing attention surrounding the player has been driven by his performances this season. Benjedida has been in prolific form, scoring 13 goals in just 15 appearances in the Moroccan league. His efficiency in front of goal and consistent output have made him one of the most prominent attacking players in the competition.

His displays have not only boosted his reputation domestically but have also attracted interest from clubs beyond Morocco, as teams begin to assess their options ahead of the summer transfer window.

For Al Ahly, the potential signing represents an opportunity to add a proven goal scorer to their ranks. For Maghreb Fez, it presents a test of their resolve to retain one of their most valuable assets in the face of increasing external interest.

With the transfer window approaching, further developments are expected as both clubs weigh their options and determine their next steps.
