Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare has joined Ajax on a season-long loan from Wolves, giving the Dutch club a new option through the middle of their attack. The 25-year-old centre-forward, who stands at 1.97m and wears the No 99 shirt, will spend the 2026-27 campaign in Amsterdam, with the deal running until 30 June 2027.
Arokodare moves after a turbulent season in England in which Wolves were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship. He had arrived at Molineux in September 2025 from Belgian side Genk for €26m, but now heads to the Eredivisie in search of a fresh platform at a club with a long history of developing attacking players.
The Lagos-born forward built his reputation in Belgium, where he scored regularly for Genk. Across his time in the Jupiler Pro League, he registered 27 goals and 10 assists in 68 appearances, form that followed an impressive spell at French side Amiens in Ligue 2 and earlier success with Valmiera in Latvia, where he struck 22 league goals in 32 matches.
Arokodare has also shown an eye for goals in cup competitions, finishing as top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League in 2024-25 with 21 goals and previously leading the charts in the Coupe de France in 2021-22 with five goals. Predominantly right-footed, he offers Ajax a physical presence and aerial threat at centre-forward.
The Nigeria international attacker will return to Wolves when his loan at Ajax expires at the end of the 2026-27 season.
