The Morocco international remains an Olympique de Marseille player after negotiations with his former club broke down unexpectedly.
Aguerd confirmed that he successfully completed his medical examination and that it was approved by both clubs.
“My medical examination went perfectly and was validated by both clubs. There was therefore no medical problem.”
The defender explained that the disagreement centred on his return-to-play schedule.
Aguerd underwent pubic surgery in March and believes he needs more time to rebuild his fitness gradually. Real Sociedad, however, wanted the defender to be ready to contribute sooner.
The Moroccan insisted that his decision was motivated by a desire to protect his body and ensure he can complete the season at full strength.
“It is simply a responsible decision to protect my body and produce the complete season everyone wants.”
Aguerd also rejected suggestions that his position was disrespectful or simply a personal preference.
Despite the collapse of the move, the defender has not completely ruled out a late change before the transfer window closes, particularly with Marseille facing financial pressure.
For now, however, Aguerd remains committed to Marseille and says he will continue giving his best for the club.
“As long as I wear this shirt, I will give everything and fight for the club, my teammates and the supporters.”
