Agkatsev hopes PSG’s Safonov can become world’s best goalkeeper in 2027

Krasnodar goalkeeper Stanislav Agkatsev says he hopes former team-mate Matvey Safonov will become the best goalkeeper in the world in 2027.

Safonov, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, finished fourth in the voting for the Lev Yashin Trophy, awarded to the best goalkeeper at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon won the award, with Arsenal’s David Raya finishing second and Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid third.

Safonov came through the Krasnodar academy and has played for Paris Saint-Germain since the summer of 2024.
