Stade Gabesien have signed Tunisia defender Afif Jebali from Al-Anwar on a free transfer, with the centre-back agreeing a deal until 30 June 2028. The 26-year-old, who was born in Tunis, joins the Tunisian side after a spell in Libya and becomes one of the club’s key defensive additions ahead of the new campaign.
Jebali, a right-footed centre-back standing at 1.90m, arrives with a market value of around €100,000 and substantial experience across North African and Middle Eastern leagues. He leaves Al-Anwar after joining them midway through the 2024-25 season, returning now to Tunisian football for the first time in several years.
Before his move to Libya, Jebali built his reputation in the Tunisian top flight and in continental competition. He has made 27 appearances in Ligue 1, as well as featuring in the Tunisian Cup and the CAF Champions League, where he played for Esperance Tunis. His time at Esperance brought major honours, including a CAF Champions League title and a domestic championship in the 2018-19 season.
Jebali’s career has also taken him to Iraq and Libya, with spells at Al-Mina’a SC and Asaria preceding his moves to Al Bashayer and then Al-Anwar. That journey has given him experience in the Libyan Premier League and exposure to different footballing styles and competitive environments.
By bringing Jebali in on a four-year contract, Stade Gabesien have added an experienced, decorated Tunisian centre-back to their defensive options ahead of the 2026-27 season.
