AC Milan begin Serie A with victory as Ruben Amorim notes players tired after 75 minutes

AC Milan opened their new Serie A campaign with a 2-1 victory away to Torino, giving Ruben Amorim a winning start to the league season.

The Portuguese manager said afterwards that the players were “a little tired after 75 minutes”, although the result ensured AC Milan left the away fixture with all three points.

The match was decided in Torino, where AC Milan secured a narrow success despite the hosts scoring once. The final score was 2-1 to the visitors, allowing Milan to begin their Serie A campaign with victory rather than having to settle for a draw or defeat.

Amorim, who oversees the Italian club, appeared highly satisfied when assessing the events of the game. His comments focused on the condition of the players during the closing stages, with fatigue becoming noticeable after the 75-minute mark.

That observation came in the context of a competitive opening league match, in which AC Milan had to protect their advantage away from home. The margin between the teams at the final whistle was one goal, but it was enough to give Amorim and his squad a successful start to the new Serie A campaign.

For Torino, the 2-1 scoreline meant beginning the season with a home defeat. AC Milan, by contrast, can take confidence from collecting maximum points in their first match and from doing so on their opponents’ ground.

The result also provides an early foundation for Amorim’s work at the club. While his assessment acknowledged that the players were beginning to tire late in the match, his overall reaction was one of clear satisfaction after AC Milan completed the victory.

AC Milan’s next Serie A fixture will be against Venezia. That match will give the club an opportunity to follow up their opening win and continue the campaign with another positive result.

The immediate outcome, however, is the 2-1 away victory over Torino. It is the first league result of AC Milan’s new campaign and places the emphasis on a winning beginning, despite the physical demands noted by Amorim during the final 15 minutes of the contest.
