Ugandan centre-forward Abdu Lumala, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Greek Super League 2 outfit Nestos as the 29-year-old looks for the next step in a career that has already taken in spells across Europe, Africa and Asia.
Nestos are understood to be weighing up a move for the right-footed attacker as they explore low-cost options to bolster their front line ahead of the new second-tier campaign in Greece. With Lumala a free agent, any deal would not require a transfer fee, making him an accessible target for a club operating outside the top-flight elite.
Lumala most recently had a short stint with Indian side Gokulam FC in the 2024-25 season, having joined them from Croatian club Slaven Belupo earlier in the same campaign. Before that, he featured for Ugandan champions Vipers following a move from Egyptian club Pyramids FC in 2022.
The forward built much of his early career in Sweden, notably making 75 appearances in the Superettan and also featuring in the Allsvenskan. He showed flashes of end product in cup competitions there, scoring three times and providing one assist in the Svenska Cupen.
Lumala has also experienced continental competition, playing in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup during his time in African club football, as well as the Uganda Premier League.
Having left Gokulam FC in November 2024, Lumala remains unattached, leaving Nestos in a position to move quickly if they decide he fits their plans for the upcoming Super League 2 season.
