Marios Ogboe: Greek-Nigerian striker joins ASIL Lysi on free transfer

Greek-Nigerian forward Marios Ogboe has joined Cypriot side ASIL Lysi on a free transfer from Ellas Syros. The 31-year-old centre-forward has signed a deal running until May 2027 with the 2. Division club.

Ogboe, born in Athens and standing at 1.88m, switches to Cyprus after a spell in Greece’s Super League 2, where he most recently led the line for Ellas Syros. He arrives with a current market value of €125,000 and is expected to operate through the middle of the attack, his established role throughout his career.

A right-footed striker, Ogboe has built a reputation as a consistent scorer across multiple leagues. In Greece’s Super League 2 he has registered 29 goals in 58 appearances, averaging a goal every 148 minutes. He has also played in the Scottish Premiership, making 55 appearances and scoring 12 times, as well as featuring in top-flight football in Greece and the Lebanese Premier League.

Ogboe has been on the move frequently in recent seasons, leaving AE Larisa for Dibba SCC in 2024 and then heading to Persita and Nejmeh SC before joining Ellas Syros in January 2026, each time on a free transfer. His performances in league and cup competitions have included notable scoring returns, with seven goals in 16 appearances in the Greek Cup and further strikes in league cups and relegation rounds.

ASIL Lysi have now added an experienced, well-travelled centre-forward to their squad, tying Ogboe down for the 2026-27 campaign and beyond.
