Ebuka Nwenyi: Nigerian defender joins CD Cieza on free transfer from Aguilas FC

Nigerian centre-back Ebuka Nwenyi has joined Spanish side CD Cieza on a free transfer from Aguilas FC.

The 25-year-old left-footed defender has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Segunda Federacion Group III club, moving after three years in Spain’s third and fourth tiers. The switch keeps him in Spanish football but represents a step into a new regional group for the upcoming campaign.

Nwenyi arrives at Cieza with extensive experience at this level, having made more than 100 appearances in the Segunda Federacion Group IV alone. Across league and cup competitions in Spain, he has passed 10,000 senior minutes, chipping in with goals and an assist from the heart of defence.

Born in Ihembosi, Nwenyi first moved to Europe with CD Mirandes B before establishing himself with Ourense. He later joined Merida AD and then returned to Ourense, all on free transfers, before Aguilas brought him in ahead of the 2023-24 season. His latest move continues a career spent entirely in senior football since leaving Nigeria’s Giant Brillars.

CD Cieza gain a defender with experience in both league and promotion play-offs, as well as in the Copa del Rey and other national cup competitions. Nwenyi’s arrival completes a permanent switch from Aguilas FC to CD Cieza on a free transfer.
