Real Madrid consider Didier Deschamps as Jose Mourinho replacement – reports

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly considering Didier Deschamps as a possible successor to Jose Mourinho if the current manager fails to improve the team’s fortunes.

Radio Marca says Perez is assessing the former France manager as a potential candidate to take charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are fourth in La Liga after eight matches, having collected 18 points. Their next fixture is a home game against Sevilla on 18 October.

Deschamps, 58, has been without a club or international role since the 2026 World Cup, after leaving his position as France manager.

The Frenchman previously managed Monaco, Juventus and Marseille. During his time in charge of France, he led the national team to victory at the 2018 World Cup and the 2020-21 Nations League.
