Mbappe, Guler and Diomande lead Real Madrid to emphatic Sevilla win

Real Madrid recorded their most convincing La Liga victory in more than a month by beating Sevilla by the same scoreline as their previous league demolition of Rayo Vallecano on 12 September.

The result saw the “royal” club overcome one side from Seville at home and move another out of the league’s top three.

But who made the difference in Real Madrid’s comprehensive victory? Euro-football.ru selected the three outstanding performers and rated them on a 10-point scale, in a subjective assessment of Jose Mourinho’s players.

The three best players in Real Madrid v Sevilla

Yan Diomande – 9.0

Diomande’s emergence on the left flank is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. The Ivorian scored for the second consecutive match, but his contribution went far beyond his goal as he played a part in every one of Real Madrid’s strikes.

He found Arda Guler on the edge of the penalty area for the opening goal, sent a cross towards Kylian Mbappe for the second, set Mbappe running to win the penalty and completed the scoring himself with a powerful finish.

Diomande proved too much for Sevilla’s defence to handle.

Arda Guler – 8.5

There were no complaints about Guler’s performance, which provided another reminder of how consistently the Turkey international has been performing for Real Madrid.

Calm in possession, eager to create danger and quick to read developments on the pitch, Guler opened the scoring with a powerful strike. He rarely surrendered the ball, won the ball twice himself, supplied three key passes and prevailed in five of his six duels.

He has become one of Real Madrid’s most reliable performers.

Kylian Mbappe – 8.0

Mbappe scored twice, won the penalty that he converted with a cheeky finish and produced a “Zidane turn” before his winning goal.

The France international combined efficiency with an effective all-round display, a balance that has been less common for him recently. He also avoided wasting the large number of chances that came his way.

There was, however, one notable blemish. Sevilla’s goal came after Mbappe attempted to take the ball past an opponent towards his own goal close to the penalty area, creating the opportunity for the visitors.
