Senegal’s Ousmane Sow opens Europa League account in Polish club’s victory

Senegalese forward Ousmane Sow scored as Jagiellonia Białystok defeated Ararat-Armenia 3-1 in the Europa League on Thursday, giving the winger his first goal in the competition’s group stage.

The 26-year-old found the net in the 51st minute to help the Polish side secure victory in their second match of the campaign on 15 October 2026.

The result extends Jagiellonia’s European journey after they secured qualification through the play-offs, where they overcame Iberia 1999.

Sow’s goal adds to an encouraging start to the season for the Senegalese player, who has already scored twice in Poland’s domestic league.

His latest contribution also gives him a goal in European competition as he continues to make an impact during his loan spell at the club.

Playing as a winger, Sow has found the net in the Ekstraklasa against Raków Częstochowa and Śląsk Wrocław.

His strike against Ararat-Armenia represents another positive step in his campaign, with the forward contributing to Jagiellonia’s efforts in both domestic and continental football.

The Senegalese international has made a promising start since joining the Polish club on loan from Danish side Brøndby.

His agreement with Jagiellonia runs until the end of the season.

Sow’s performance against Ararat-Armenia will provide further encouragement as Jagiellonia seek to build momentum in the Europa League.

The Polish side’s 3-1 victory gives them a positive result in the early stages of the group campaign and keeps their European ambitions on track.

For Senegalese football, Sow’s progress in Poland offers another example of an African player making his mark in European club competition.

His ability to contribute goals across league and European fixtures will be important as he looks to maintain his form throughout the season.

The forward’s domestic goals against Raków Częstochowa and Śląsk Wrocław had already demonstrated his capacity to influence matches in Poland.

Finding the net in the Europa League now gives him an additional platform to showcase his attacking qualities beyond the domestic competition.

At 26, Sow is continuing his development with Jagiellonia while on loan from Brøndby.

With his loan spell scheduled to last until the end of the season, he will have further opportunities to contribute to the Polish club’s campaigns.

His goal against Ararat-Armenia was an important personal milestone, as he opened his account in the Europa League group stage while helping Jagiellonia claim all three points.
