Paris Saint-Germain could have a significant advantage in their pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Jaydee Canvot, with the 20-year-old reportedly open to joining the French champions if they make a formal offer.
Canvot, who is of Senegalese origin, is understood to be a priority target for PSG. According to sources cited by Football Insider, the defender is flattered by the interest from the Parisian club and could be attracted by the opportunity to play for a leading European side.
However, no transfer has been agreed and PSG have yet to make a concrete proposal. Their interest will need to develop into an official offer before Crystal Palace consider whether to negotiate over the player’s future.
Crystal Palace are believed to want to keep Canvot and are under no particular pressure to sell him. His contract runs until 2029, leaving the English club in a strong bargaining position should discussions with PSG take place.
Canvot’s market value is estimated at 35 million euros by Transfermarkt, giving an indication of the potential financial scale of any deal. PSG must now decide whether to pursue the defender formally, while Crystal Palace will determine if they are willing to allow him to leave.
Strasbourg are due to face PSG in the seventh round of the French league soon.
