Comoros v Senegal: first meeting set for international friendly in Marseille

Comoros will face Senegal for the first time at senior international level when the two teams meet in a friendly at Marseille’s CEPAC Velodrome on Sunday, 4 October 2026.

Kick-off is scheduled for 13:00 GMT. The match will be broadcast by RTS 1, Canal+ Sport Afrique and beIN SPORTS.

The fixture offers both sides an opportunity to assess their progress before their next competitive commitments, with each national team currently second in its group in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

There have been no previous meetings between the two senior teams, making this an unprecedented fixture. The match could provide the starting point for a future rivalry between the Comoros and Senegal.

Different starts in CAN 2027 qualifying

Comoros, drawn in Group G, began their qualifying campaign with a 3-1 defeat by Cameroon. They responded in their next match by beating Namibia 1-0.

That victory left the Cœlacanthes with three points and in second place in the group, behind Cameroon. Their meeting with Senegal will therefore serve as an important test as they prepare for the matches ahead.

Senegal are in Group J and opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Mozambique. The Lions de la Teranga then recorded their first win by defeating Ethiopia 1-0.

With four points from two matches, Senegal sit second in the standings, level on points with Mozambique. The friendly against Comoros will allow the team to measure its current level before returning to competitive action.

Senegal favourites on paper

Senegal are regarded as the stronger team ahead of the match. Their greater experience, positive momentum following the win against Ethiopia and squad overseen by Patrick Vieira are factors that make them the expected favourites.

Comoros are still rebuilding and have produced inconsistent results, while Senegal are considered to have greater athletic and attacking strength. On that basis, Africafoot’s prediction is a 3-1 victory for Senegal.

The betting odds listed by 1xbet make Senegal the clear favourites. A Comoros win is priced at 5.00, a draw at 3.30 and a Senegal victory at 1.70.
