CAF confirm dates for Blockbuster Champions League final

The Confederation of African Football has officially confirmed the schedule for the 2026 CAF Champions League final, setting up a high-stakes clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and AS FAR.

The two-legged final will kick off on May 17 in Pretoria, before the decisive return leg takes place on May 24 in Rabat. Kick-off times and match officials are yet to be announced by CAF.

Road to Continental Glory

Both clubs arrive at the final after navigating a demanding campaign, emerging as the strongest sides in this year’s competition.

Sundowns will look to take advantage of home conditions in the first leg, aiming to build a crucial lead in front of their supporters in Pretoria.

AS FAR, meanwhile, are expected to rely heavily on their formidable home atmosphere in Rabat, where they will hope to overturn any deficit and seal the title in front of their fans.

More Than Just a Trophy

Beyond the prestige of lifting Africa’s biggest club prize, the final carries added significance.

The winner will go on to face the champions of the CAF Confederation Cup in the CAF Super Cup, offering another opportunity for continental silverware.

Anticipation Builds Across Africa

With two of Africa’s most competitive and well-organised teams set to collide, expectations are building for a tightly contested final.

CAF is expected to release further details regarding officiating, logistics and broadcast arrangements in the coming days, as fans across the continent gear up for one of the biggest fixtures in African football
