Burkina Faso midfielder Zougrana eyes new challenge amid growing interest

Mohamed Zougrana could be set for a move away from MC Alger, with growing interest from clubs across Africa as the next transfer window approaches.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has emerged as a sought-after figure following a series of consistent performances, prompting speculation about his future despite being under contract with MC Alger until June 2027.

Zougrana’s representative, Nasser Diallo, confirmed that discussions around a potential move are gathering pace, suggesting the player is open to taking the next step in his career.

“Mohamed’s situation is clear: he wants a new challenge. Today, I can say that he has matured considerably.”

The Burkina Faso international joined MC Alger after a spell with ASEC Mimosas and has since established himself as a key member of the squad.

He has made 87 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing seven assists during his time with the Algerian side.

His performances have not gone unnoticed. According to his agent, several clubs have expressed interest in securing his services, with Egyptian sides Al Ahly and Pyramids FC among those monitoring his situation.

“Mohamed has taken a very important step forward on the African continent.” Yes, there is interest, as you saw with Al Ahly, but also from other clubs on the continent who are starting to make inquiries. We are two months away from the transfer window.

The comments point to increasing momentum around a potential transfer, although no official bids have been confirmed. MC Alger are understood to have already set an asking price for the midfielder, signalling their awareness of the growing demand.

Despite his contractual situation, Zougrana is believed to be keen on advancing his career further. His ambitions, as outlined by his agent, centre on development and continued success at the highest level.

Mohamed’s objective is to take his game to the next level and continue winning trophies.

The coming weeks are expected to be crucial in determining his future, particularly as clubs begin formalising their transfer plans ahead of the next window.

With interest from some of Africa’s leading teams, Zougrana’s next move could represent a significant step in his career trajectory.

For now, the midfielder remains an MC Alger player, but indications suggest that a departure is increasingly possible as he looks to embrace a new challenge.
