Mbappé calls Real Madrid ‘best club in the world’

French forward reflects on career growth, ambition and life at the Bernabéu

Kylian Mbappé has described Real Madrid as “the best club in the world”, offering a personal insight into his journey and ambitions as he enters his second season in Spain.

The French international joined the Spanish giants on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and, despite limited collective success so far, has continued to deliver impressive individual performances.

In his debut season, Mbappé scored 44 goals across all competitions to secure the European Golden Boot. He has maintained that momentum into the current campaign, registering 39 goals in just 38 appearances.

Personal fulfilment at Madrid

Speaking to GQ magazine, Mbappé outlined what representing Real Madrid means to him, emphasising both pride and gratitude.

“For me, playing for Real Madrid is like a gift from God. It’s an opportunity to live my passion, play the best matches, and be at the best club in the world.”

He added: “I’m always grateful to be on the pitch, and to wake up every morning to do what I love.”

The 27-year-old also reflected on the emotional experience of playing at the club’s iconic stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

“I love being on the pitch and feeling like I’m putting my feet on the best surface in the world, in a country that is among the best in football.”

Challenge of sustaining excellence

While his goal-scoring record has been consistently strong, Mbappé acknowledged that maintaining elite performance levels presents its own challenges.

“The hardest part is not getting there, but staying there and continuing to develop. The journey never goes exactly as we imagine it; there are things you can control and others you cannot.”

Looking back on his progression, he highlighted the importance of discipline and long-term focus in shaping his career.

“Today I am in the environment I have dreamed of since childhood, because I have always tried to put myself on this path through hard work, discipline and high standards.”

Evolution beyond individual brilliance

Mbappé also spoke about how his playing style has matured over time, moving beyond raw talent to a more complete understanding of the game.

“My style has definitely evolved. At the beginning, you play more spontaneously and focus on showing your skills and making a difference.”

He continued: “Over time you realize that football is not just what you do with the ball, but everything that surrounds it, from teamwork and continuity to responsibilities. Today, talent alone is not enough, but continuity is what makes the difference.”

World Cup ambition remains strong

Beyond club football, Mbappé reiterated his ambitions on the international stage with the France national football team, particularly his desire to succeed at the World Cup.

“The World Cup is an exceptional moment, in which collective efforts are crowned through determination and a fighting mentality. We have great ambition, but we also have humility that makes us realize that nothing is guaranteed in football.”

balancing individual brilliance with team success

Mbappé’s reflections underline a player at the peak of his powers, combining individual excellence with a growing appreciation of collective responsibility. While Real Madrid have yet to achieve major tournament success during his time at the club, his performances continue to reinforce his status as one of the game’s leading figures.

As he looks ahead, both his club ambitions and international goals remain firmly intact, driven by a mindset focused on continuous improvement and sustained success.
