Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of South African winger Faiz Abrahams on loan from Stellenbosch FC for the 2026-27 season as the club continues to reshape its squad.
The 21-year-old becomes the sixth new arrival at the Soweto-based club ahead of the new campaign, with Chiefs also bringing in Thabo Moloisane, Renaldo Leaner, Adolf Mtasingwa and Langelihle Phili.
Khanyisa Mayo has also joined the club on a permanent basis after initially arriving on loan in January.
Abrahams’ move to Chiefs is structured as a season-long loan, with the club holding an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the campaign.
The winger joins after a developing spell with Stellenbosch, where he began his senior career in South Africa’s top flight.
Abrahams made his Betway Premiership debut for Stellenbosch in April 2024, just a day after turning 19. The appearance marked the beginning of his involvement in senior football after progressing through the club’s system.
Born in Bishop Lavis, the youngster’s development has also included experience outside South Africa.
He spent time on loan with Israeli club Hapoel Kfar Saba, giving him an opportunity to experience football in a different country before returning to South Africa and continuing his career with Stellenbosch.
His time abroad formed part of a career that has developed relatively quickly since breaking into senior football.
Despite being only 21, Abrahams has already experienced football in both South Africa and Israel and will now begin another chapter with one of the country’s most prominent clubs.
Kaizer Chiefs are hoping the move will provide additional attacking options as they prepare for the 2026-27 season.
The club’s decision to include an option to buy means Abrahams could remain at Chiefs beyond the initial loan period if his performances convince the club to make the deal permanent.
For Stellenbosch, the arrangement gives their young player an opportunity to gain further experience at another major South African club while retaining the possibility of his eventual return should Chiefs not exercise the purchase option.
Abrahams joined Stellenbosch in 2024 and has made five senior appearances for the club to date, with those appearances coming either side of his loan spell in Israel.
His move to Chiefs is therefore another important step in his development and gives him the chance to compete for a place in a squad undergoing significant changes.
The arrival of Abrahams continues an active transfer window for Chiefs, who have now added six players to their squad ahead of the new season.
The club’s recruitment drive has included a mixture of new signings and the permanent retention of a player who had already been part of the squad.
For Abrahams, the immediate objective will be to establish himself at Chiefs and make the most of the opportunity presented by his season-long move.
