Christian Nwachukwu, the Nigerian left winger currently at Sheffield United, is being linked with a move to Israeli top-flight side Maccabi Netanya. The Ligat ha’Al club are understood to be exploring a deal for the 20-year-old, who is under contract at Bramall Lane until 30 June 2027.
Nwachukwu returned to Sheffield United this summer after a loan spell at Turkish side Serik Spor, and interest from Netanya is thought to centre on a permanent transfer rather than another temporary move. His current market valuation stands at around €600,000, a figure which is expected to form the basis of any negotiations between the clubs.
The Abeokuta-born winger, who prefers to operate off the left despite being right-footed, joined Sheffield United in February 2025 from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv for a fee of €1.2 million. He built his reputation there with 26 league appearances in Bulgaria’s top flight, contributing four goals and two assists, and also featured in European qualifying rounds.
During his time at Botev Plovdiv he won the Bulgarian Cup in the 2023-24 season, adding silverware early in his career and increasing his visibility to clubs across Europe. A subsequent loan to Serik Spor in the 2025-26 campaign provided his first experience of Turkish football before his return to England at the end of June.
With Nwachukwu tied to Sheffield United for another year beyond the coming season, any agreement with Maccabi Netanya would require the Championship club to sanction his departure rather than lose him on a free when his deal expires.
