Yassine Jbira: Moroccan left-back joins Floriana on free transfer from Al-Ettifaq Club

Moroccan defender Yassine Jbira has joined Maltese side Floriana on a free transfer from Al-Ettifaq Club, signing a deal that runs until 30 June 2027.

The 30-year-old left-back arrives in Malta after a brief spell with the Bahraini club, whom he joined earlier in 2026. His move to Floriana was completed on 17 July 2026 as the Premier League side continue to shape their squad for the new campaign.

Born in Casablanca and standing at 1.72m, Jbira is a left-footed specialist on the left side of defence. He brings with him significant experience from Moroccan football, having accumulated 50 league appearances in the Botola Pro Inwi and featuring in domestic cup competitions, where he also provided an assist in the Coupe du Trone.

Before moving to Bahrain, Jbira played for COD Meknes, joining them from Moghreb Tetouan in 2024. His time at Moghreb Tetouan had marked his return to club football in 2022, following an earlier stint without a team after leaving O. Khouribga in 2021.

Earlier in his career, Jbira developed through Moroccan side FUS Rabat after a spell with Spanish outfit Almeria at youth level, giving him experience in different footballing environments before establishing himself in his home country’s top flight.

Jbira’s free-transfer switch to Floriana is confirmed as a permanent move, tying the Moroccan full-back to the Maltese club until the end of the 2026-27 season.
