The race for places in next season’s Botola Pro enters its decisive stage this week as four Moroccan clubs prepare to contest the promotion and relegation playoffs.
Amal Tiznit, Olympique Dcheira, Chabab Al Massira and Union Touarga will battle across two-legged ties, with only two clubs guaranteed a place in Morocco’s top flight for the 2026/27 season.
The first-leg matches are scheduled for 17 and 18 July, with the return fixtures taking place on 21 and 22 July.
Amal Tiznit dream of historic promotion
Amal Tiznit head into the playoffs chasing a historic first-ever promotion to the Botola Pro.
The Souss-based club finished third in Botola 2 with 46 points, earning the opportunity to compete for a place in the top division after an impressive campaign.
Their rise has been remarkable, having spent just one season in the second tier following promotion from the amateur leagues.
Standing in their way is Olympique Dcheira, who are fighting to preserve their top-flight status after a difficult campaign.
Dcheira secured promotion through last season’s playoffs but struggled to establish themselves in the Botola Pro, finishing 14th with 30 points and facing another relegation battle just one year later.
Chabab Al Massira eye top-flight return
The second playoff will see Chabab Al Massira attempt to secure a return to Morocco’s top division for the first time since the 2011/12 season.
After finishing fourth in Botola 2 on 44 points, the club now has the chance to end a lengthy absence from the Botola Pro.
Chabab Al Massira enjoyed one of the strongest periods in their history during the early 2000s, reaching three consecutive Throne Cup semi-finals between 2003 and 2005.
Their best league finish came in the 2001/02 campaign, when they placed fifth in the top flight.
Union Touarga battling for survival
Their opponents, Union Touarga, are aiming to avoid relegation after enduring a challenging season.
The Rabat-based club finished 13th in the Botola Pro to secure a place in the playoffs after narrowly escaping automatic relegation.
Their current situation represents a sharp contrast to two years ago, when they qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing fourth in the league.
Now, Union Touarga must overcome Chabab Al Massira over two legs to retain their place among Morocco’s elite.
With promotion on the line for Amal Tiznit and Chabab Al Massira, and survival at stake for Olympique Dcheira and Union Touarga, the playoff ties promise to play a decisive role in shaping the Botola Pro lineup for next season.
