Club Africain have reached a full agreement to sign experienced central defender Yassine Meriah following the expiry of his contract with Espérance de Tunis.
The former Tunisia international is expected to officially become a Club Africain player on 1 July, when his contract with Espérance expires, allowing the Tunisian giants to formally announce the transfer.
Meriah, 32, has been identified as one of Club Africain’s key defensive reinforcements as the club looks to strengthen its back line ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Although terms have already been agreed between both parties, Club Africain must wait until the expiry of the defender’s contract at midnight before confirming the signing.
Once the deal becomes official, Meriah is expected to immediately join the club’s pre-season preparations and begin training with his new teammates.
The experienced centre-back became available after Espérance opted against renewing his contract at the end of the season, bringing an end to his spell with the Tunisian champions.
His move represents one of the most notable domestic transfers of the summer, with Club Africain securing the services of a defender who brings significant experience at both club and international level.
Meriah has enjoyed a distinguished career, representing Tunisia at major international tournaments while also featuring in domestic and continental competitions throughout his career.
Club Africain believe his leadership, defensive organisation and experience will add valuable stability to the squad as they prepare for the new campaign.
The official announcement is expected on 1 July, after which Meriah will begin the next chapter of his career with one of Tunisia’s biggest clubs.
