World Cup star Akliouche chooses PSG as Monaco prepare for major summer sale

Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche, with the World Cup breakout star reportedly favouring a move to the reigning European champions.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, PSG have moved ahead of several Premier League clubs in the race for the highly-rated French attacker, who is now regarded as one of the hottest properties in European football.

Akliouche, who made his FIFA World Cup debut against Iraq, is believed to be ready to take the next step in his career after an outstanding campaign with Monaco.

The 24-year-old enjoyed his best season yet in Ligue 1, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists as he established himself among the league’s most exciting attacking talents.

His ability to beat defenders, progress the ball through midfield and create chances has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Monaco are now preparing for formal offers and are expected to demand a significant transfer fee for one of their prized assets.

PSG have tracked Akliouche’s progress for several months, with football advisor Luis Campos a long-time admirer of the winger.

Head coach Luis Enrique is also understood to be a strong supporter of the move as the Parisian giants look to refresh their attacking options ahead of next season.

The French champions are expected to reshape their forward line during the summer transfer window.

Gonçalo Ramos is reportedly closing in on a move to AC Milan, while uncertainty also surrounds the futures of Lee Kang-in and Bradley Barcola.

Those potential departures have elevated Akliouche to one of PSG’s priority transfer targets as the club seeks to strengthen an attack that helped deliver both domestic success and European glory.

Fresh from announcing himself on the World Cup stage, Akliouche now appears set for another major milestone, with a move to the Parc des Princes increasingly looking like his next destination.
