Haiti coach backs Morocco to go far at 2026 World Cup

Haiti head coach Sébastien Migné believes Morocco have the quality and squad depth to mount a serious challenge at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after watching the Atlas Lions defeat Haiti 4-2 in their final Group C match.

Speaking after the game in Atlanta, the French coach praised Morocco’s strength throughout the squad and said the North African side possess the resources needed to remain among the tournament’s leading contenders.

The victory represented another positive step in Morocco’s World Cup campaign and reinforced their status as one of Africa’s strongest hopes in the competition.

Migné was particularly impressed by the options available to Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi, noting that changes to the starting line-up had little impact on the team’s overall level of performance.

“Morocco has a very deep squad. Mohamed Ouahbi has many options for rotation. I wasn’t surprised by the changes made, I expected some of them.

But with its starters as well as its substitutes, Morocco remains a very strong team,” said Migné at the post-match press conference.

The Haiti manager said Morocco’s strength goes beyond their first-choice players, arguing that the depth available across the squad allows them to remain highly competitive even when personnel changes are made.

That depth was evident during the Group C encounter, as Morocco produced another convincing display to overcome Haiti and continue building momentum ahead of the knockout rounds.

Migné admitted his side found it difficult to cope whenever their concentration levels dropped, stressing that Morocco’s players were quick to punish mistakes.

“When you play against a team ranked among the top ten in the world, mistakes are punished severely. We had to stay focused throughout the match. We had moments of relaxation and the Moroccan players exploited them perfectly,” he explained.

The result highlighted the growing confidence surrounding Morocco, who have continued to impress with a blend of tactical organisation, technical quality and squad depth throughout the tournament.

Having faced the Atlas Lions first-hand, Migné believes they have the qualities required to challenge the world’s best teams in the latter stages of the competition.

“I believe this team will go far in the competition,” he stated.

Morocco’s performances have attracted increasing praise during the World Cup, with their ability to rotate players without sacrificing quality viewed as one of their major strengths.

As the tournament moves into its decisive phase, the Atlas Lions will hope to build on their strong group-stage displays and continue a campaign that is generating growing belief both at home and abroad.

For Migné, there appears little doubt about Morocco’s prospects. Having seen their quality up close, the Haiti coach believes the Atlas Lions have the depth, talent and consistency needed to remain a force deep into the competition.
