FIFA has appointed Mexican referee Katia Itzel García to officiate the decisive Group F encounter between Tunisia and the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match, scheduled for 25 June at Atlanta Stadium, could have significant implications for the final standings in the group and the race for a place in the knockout stages.
García will be assisted by fellow Mexicans Sandra Ramírez and Jan De Vries, while Spain’s José Enrique Naranjo Pérez has been named fourth official. Paraguay’s Milciades Saldivar will serve as reserve assistant referee.
The appointment is part of FIFA’s policy of selecting officials from different confederations for major international fixtures, promoting neutrality and global representation throughout the tournament.
Tunisia will enter the match aiming to strengthen their hopes of progressing beyond the group stage, while the Netherlands will be seeking to secure their position at the top of Group F.
The North Africans are expected to rely on defensive organisation and discipline against a Dutch side renowned for its technical quality, possession-based football and attacking depth.
García’s selection also highlights FIFA’s continued commitment to providing opportunities for elite female referees on football’s biggest stage. She has built a strong reputation in international officiating and now takes charge of one of the most important group-stage fixtures of the tournament.
With qualification potentially on the line, all eyes will be on Atlanta as Tunisia and the Netherlands battle for a crucial result in what promises to be a highly competitive encounter.
