Ghana- Dreams FC set up MTN FA Cup final showdown with Nations FC

Relegated Ghana Premier League side Nations FC will have the chance to end their season on a historic high after reaching the MTN FA Cup final for the first time in the club’s history.

The Abrankese-based side secured their place in the final despite suffering relegation from the top flight after finishing the league season with 44 points, setting up a showdown with Dreams FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Dreams FC, meanwhile, are aiming to win the competition for a second time after lifting the trophy during the 2022-23 season. The Believers ended the Ghana Premier League campaign in the top four and head into the final in strong form.

Nations FC’s route to the MTN FA Cup final has been built on defensive solidity and resilience throughout the competition.

They opened their campaign with victory over Division One League Zone Two side Ebony FC in the Round of 64 before eliminating fellow Zone Two club AshantiGold SC, the reigning champions of the division.

The Premier League side then defeated Swedru All Blacks 2-1 before edging past Berekum Chelsea on penalties in the quarter-finals. Nations FC sealed their place in the final with a semi-final victory over Aduana FC in Swedru.

They have scored eight goals and conceded just twice during the tournament, giving them one of the best defensive records in this year’s competition.

Dreams FC have also produced an impressive run to the final.

They began with a 2-1 win over Division One League Zone Three side Semper Fi before beating Division Two outfit Asanska FC 2-0. In the quarter-finals, Dreams were held to a 1-1 draw by Inter Allies but advanced after winning 4-3 on penalties.

The Still Believe lads then booked their place in the final with an entertaining 3-2 semi-final victory over Medeama SC.

For Nations FC, the final presents an opportunity to salvage pride after relegation disappointment, while Dreams FC will be hoping to cap another strong campaign with domestic silverware and a return to continental football.
