Al Ahly winger Ahmed Mostafa Zizo is continuing his legal dispute with former club Zamalek over more than 82m Egyptian pounds in alleged outstanding dues, with his lawyer travelling to Switzerland to prepare a possible appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Zizo’s legal adviser, Ashraf Abdel Aziz, told WinWin that he is currently in Switzerland as part of preparations for a possible escalation of the case to CAS.
The move comes while Zizo waits for the Egyptian Football Association Appeals Committee to issue its decision on the dispute. The committee is currently examining the case, and the next stage will depend on the ruling.
Abdel Aziz said his trip to Switzerland was specifically linked to preparations for taking the matter further at the international sports arbitration body if necessary after the completion of the domestic procedures.
The lawyer said the final decision on the next step would be made once the Appeals Committee announces its ruling.
Zizo has maintained his position over the financial claims against Zamalek since leaving the club. Al Ahly signed the winger on 6 June 2025 after his contract with Zamalek expired, with the transfer generating significant reaction within Egyptian football.
A source close to Zizo told WinWin that the player has handed responsibility for the dispute to his father and lawyer, who are overseeing the legal proceedings and following developments in the case.
According to the source, both men remain determined to pursue the full amount being claimed by Zizo, which is understood to exceed 82m Egyptian pounds.
The source said Zizo’s decision to leave the case in the hands of his father and legal adviser should not be interpreted as a retreat from his demands.
Instead, the player’s representatives are continuing with the procedures in an effort to settle the dispute over the money they believe Zamalek owes him.
Zizo has therefore not withdrawn his financial claims against his former club, with the legal team preparing for a possible move to CAS depending on the outcome of the domestic appeal process.
The Appeals Committee’s ruling is now the immediate development expected in the case. Once that decision is delivered, Zizo and his representatives will determine whether the dispute needs to be taken to the international arbitration stage.
The source said the player remains committed to pursuing the amount at the centre of the dispute and has not changed his position despite transferring responsibility for the case to his lawyer and father.
He concluded by saying: “The Appeals Committee’s decision is the expected step in the case, before determining the player’s next course of action, but he has decided to escalate the matter to obtain the value of his dues, which amounts to 82 million pounds.
Zizo’s legal team is consequently waiting for the Egyptian Football Association’s Appeals Committee to complete its review, while preparations for a possible CAS case are already under way in Switzerland.
