Zenit St Petersburg offered Monaco a choice between Brazilian players Luis Henrique and Nino as part of discussions over a possible deal for Russia midfielder Alexander Golovin, but the French club did not accept the proposal.
The latest details of the negotiations were reported by journalist Anar Ibragimov. Zenit’s suggested arrangement involved including either Luis Henrique or Nino in a potential transfer for Golovin.
If Monaco had preferred a deal involving Nino, Zenit were also prepared to pay a small additional fee. However, that offer did not meet Monaco’s requirements and the proposed transfer arrangement failed to progress.
The talks had previously been disclosed by Konstantin Zyryanov, chairman of Zenit’s board. Zyryanov confirmed that the two clubs had discussed a possible exchange of players, although he did not identify the footballers involved at the time.
Ibragimov’s report has now provided further information about the names put forward by the Saint Petersburg club. Luis Henrique and Nino were the two players Zenit were willing to include in negotiations, with the proposal differing slightly depending on which player Monaco chose.
Nino, a central defender, would have been accompanied by a modest additional payment from Zenit. The report does not specify whether the same financial arrangement applied to Luis Henrique. It does, however, state that Monaco were not satisfied with Zenit’s overall offer.
The discussions concerned a possible return for Golovin, the Russian midfielder whose future was at the centre of the negotiations between the clubs. No agreement was reached on the exchange proposal, and the available information does not indicate that the player-swap talks resulted in a completed transfer.
The initial comments from Zyryanov established that an exchange had been considered, while the subsequent information attributed to Ibragimov has identified the players involved from Zenit’s side. Monaco’s rejection means that the suggested structure, involving either Luis Henrique or Nino, was not acceptable to the Ligue 1 club.
At this stage, the reported talks remain limited to the proposed exchange and the additional payment Zenit were ready to make in the Nino scenario. The clubs’ discussions have not produced a deal on those terms.
