Yan Diomande’s move to Real Madrid reaches final formalities, report says

Real Madrid are closer than ever to completing a deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with only the final formal procedures reportedly still to be completed before the transfer can be officially confirmed.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sport Germany, said on Wednesday that Madrid and Leipzig were on the verge of reaching an agreement for the Cote d’Ivoire international.

“Major breakthrough! Real Madrid and RB Leipzig are on the verge of completing the transfer of Yan Diomande,” Plettenberg wrote on his account on X.

He later provided further details of the proposed agreement, saying the guaranteed fee would be €125m. Performance-related payments are expected to take the value of the deal to €135m, while the overall figure could rise as high as €140m if all of the bonuses connected to difficult-to-achieve conditions are met.

“Exclusive details: the guaranteed transfer fee amounts to €125m. With realistic bonuses added, the deal is expected to rise to €135m, while the total value could reach €140m if all bonuses linked to difficult conditions are achieved,” Plettenberg said.

The reported agreement would also provide a financial return for Leganes, Diomande’s former club. Plettenberg said the Spanish side would receive approximately 5% of the player’s transfer profit under the arrangement reached between the parties.

“Leganes, his former club, will receive around 5% of the player’s transfer profit, according to the agreement between the parties. Only the final formalities remain before the deal is officially completed,” he added.

Diomande’s performances for RB Leipzig last season helped establish him as one of the most highly valued young wingers in European football. He also impressed while representing Cote d’Ivoire, including during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

The proposed transfer would see Real Madrid bring in another attacking player after Diomande’s progress in Germany and on the international stage. However, the deal has not yet been officially completed, with the remaining formal steps still required before the move can be announced.

If the reported bonuses are all achieved, the transfer could reach a total value of €140m, although the guaranteed amount would remain €125m and the expected figure, including realistic incentives, would be €135m.
