Femi Azeez has been recognised as one of the most influential players in the EFL Championship this season after producing a series of consistent performances for Millwall FC.
The 24-year-old winger played a central role in Millwall’s attacking efforts across the campaign, making 35 league appearances and contributing 11 goals alongside seven assists. His performances established him as one of the club’s key attacking outlets and highlighted his growing reputation within the division.
Azeez’s pace and ability to operate effectively in wide areas caused persistent problems for opposition defences throughout the season. Frequently deployed on the wing, he combined direct running with intelligent movement, allowing him to create opportunities both for himself and his teammates.
The statistics behind his campaign further demonstrate the scale of his contribution. He registered 90 shots over the course of the season and completed 367 passes, recording a pass accuracy of 60%. In attacking situations, he was also responsible for creating 67 chances, including 18 classified as big chances.
His delivery from wide positions formed another important aspect of his game. Azeez produced 78 crosses during the campaign and remained heavily involved in attacking sequences, recording a total of 1,545 touches. Of those, 144 came inside the opposition penalty area, underlining the frequency with which he was able to get into dangerous positions.
The winger’s aggressive attacking approach also reflected his willingness to take risks in advanced areas of the pitch. He won 30 fouls from defenders attempting to halt his progress, illustrating the threat posed by his dribbling and movement. At the same time, he was dispossessed on 32 occasions, a figure that reflects the high-risk style he adopted while trying to break through opposition back lines.
While much of the focus has been on his attacking numbers, Azeez also impressed with his physical commitment and work rate. Throughout the campaign, he demonstrated an ability to contribute beyond the final third, combining energy and persistence with his technical qualities.
His performances have marked him out as one of the Championship’s standout attacking players this season and reinforced his importance to Millwall’s overall play. The combination of goals, assists and creativity ensured he remained a consistent influence across the league campaign.
Azeez’s ability to stretch defences, create scoring opportunities and maintain a regular attacking presence proved valuable for Millwall over the course of the season. His contribution in front of goal, together with his creativity from wide areas, helped establish him as one of the club’s most effective performers.
The campaign also highlighted the winger’s development as a more complete attacking player. Alongside his speed and direct running, his increased involvement in build-up play and chance creation demonstrated an expanded influence within the team’s attacking structure.
By the end of the season, Azeez’s numbers and performances had placed him among the most productive players in the Championship, capping an impressive year for the Millwall winger.
