Wingate FC add England-Nigeria striker Anointed Chukwu after Worthing exit

England-Nigeria centre-forward Anointed Chukwu has joined Wingate FC on a free transfer from Worthing.

The 25-year-old completed the move on 2 August 2026, returning to the club he represented before spells with Welling United, Enfield Town and Worthing. Chukwu’s switch to Wingate follows a season in which he also spent time on loan at Chippenham.

Chukwu joined Worthing from Enfield Town on a free transfer in July 2025. He moved temporarily to Chippenham in November of that year before returning to Worthing when the loan ended on 31 May 2026.

The London-born forward has made 76 appearances in the National League South, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists. He has also featured once in the National League North.

Chukwu’s previous spell with Wingate began in July 2023, when he moved from Harrow Borough. He spent the 2023-24 campaign at the club before leaving for Welling United the following summer.

His career has included further moves between clubs in the English non-league system. Before joining Harrow Borough, he played for Grays Athletic and Cheshunt, having earlier been with Romford, East Thurrock and Salford Under-18s. He began his youth football at Palace Under-18s.

The forward, who is also eligible to represent Nigeria through his nationality, is now back at Wingate FC after completing his move from Worthing.
