Wilfried Singo is expected to remain at Galatasaray for another season despite interest from Premier League club Newcastle United and Italian giants Inter Milan.
The Ivory Coast defender has attracted attention from several major European sides, but the 25-year-old is not believed to be in a hurry to leave the Istanbul club. Instead, Singo’s preference is to continue his development with Galatasaray before considering a move to another leading European league.
According to journalist Ali Naci Kucuk, speaking on Dici Futbol, Newcastle United made an approach to try to persuade the former Torino player to move to the Premier League. Inter Milan have also reportedly asked about the defender’s situation.
Those approaches, however, have not changed Singo’s thinking. His current priority is understood to be remaining with Galatasaray for at least one more season, as he considers another campaign in Turkey important for his continued progress.
Singo is under contract with Galatasaray until June 2030, leaving the club in a strong position should interest in the Ivory Coast international develop into formal transfer proposals. His long-term deal also means that any potential move would be expected to involve a significant fee.
Transfermarkt currently estimates Singo’s market value at 23m euros, underlining his standing among the players being monitored by major European clubs. The defender is also reported to earn an annual salary of 8m euros in Turkey, equivalent to 5.2bn CFA francs.
For now, that valuation and the attention from Newcastle United and Inter Milan have not prompted a change in plans. Singo would prefer to use another season at Galatasaray to take the next step in his development rather than move immediately to a different league.
The decision means Galatasaray can continue to count on a player whose contract runs for several more years, while Singo retains the opportunity to build on his progress in Istanbul before assessing his options. His name is likely to remain linked with prominent European clubs, but there is currently no indication that he intends to act on the interest from Newcastle United or Inter Milan.
