Roma wing-back Wesley has contacted Brazil team-mate Endrick to tell him how pleased he would be to welcome the Real Madrid striker to the Italian capital, as the Giallorossi attempt to beat Milan to his signing in January.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the message was a spontaneous exchange between the two players and was not arranged by Roma. Endrick had previously offered similar support to Wesley in June, when an injury ruled the Roma player out of Brazil’s camp one week before the World Cup.
Wesley had also spoken publicly about his desire to play alongside Endrick during Roma’s pre-season camp in the UK in August.
“It’s obvious that I’d really like it if he came to Roma, but it’s him who decides what’s best for his future,” Wesley said. “I’d like to see lots of Brazilians here, there are several who could be useful to us, but in the end it’s always the sporting director who decides. Anyway, if he came, I’d be very happy.”
Endrick has made only four minutes of appearances across La Liga and the Champions League under Jose Mourinho this season. Mourinho blocked a move away from Real Madrid during the summer, but the 19-year-old is again attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window.
Milan are also pursuing the forward, although Roma are understood to have made the most progress in discussions with both Endrick’s representatives and Real Madrid.
The potential deal has yet to move forward because of a disagreement over its structure. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez would approve only a loan, while Roma want the agreement to include an option to buy, alongside a buy-back clause for the Spanish club.
Wesley and Endrick will have an opportunity to meet when Real Madrid visit the Olimpico on 14 October in the Champions League. They are also due to see each other again when Brazil travel to Singapore in November.
