Werder Bremen remain committed to Justin Njinmah despite the forward’s disappointing 2025/26 campaign, with the Bundesliga club reportedly having no plans to part ways with him ahead of the new season.
The 25-year-old endured a frustrating year in front of goal, prompting speculation over his future. However, reports in Germany suggest Werder continue to view Njinmah as an important part of their long-term plans and are not considering a transfer.
Instead, the club are said to believe the striker still has significant potential and are backing him to improve under head coach Daniel Thioune.
Njinmah made 33 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring five goals, but his tally fell below expectations.
Despite that return, Werder’s hierarchy remain convinced that the forward possesses qualities capable of making a major impact, particularly his pace and ability to stretch opposing defences.
Club official Peter Niemeyer acknowledged that Njinmah has room for improvement in the final third, noting that while his speed creates problems for opponents, he must become more clinical in front of goal.
Rather than seeking to cash in on the attacker, Werder have opted to continue investing in his development as they prepare for the new campaign.
The club’s confidence in the forward is not new.
During the 2024/25 winter transfer window, Werder reportedly rejected an offer worth a low double-digit million-euro fee from an Italian club, choosing instead to retain the player because of their belief in his long-term potential.
That position has remained unchanged despite Njinmah’s mixed performances last season.
Werder are also understood to believe the player’s relationship with Thioune could play a key role in helping him fulfil his potential.
The coach is expected to continue working closely with the forward as the club aims to help him develop into a more consistent attacking threat.
For Njinmah, the decision represents a significant vote of confidence after a season in which he struggled to convert promising performances into goals.
Rather than facing uncertainty over his future, the forward will now have another opportunity to establish himself as an important figure in Werder’s attack.
