Villarreal will attempt to end Paris Saint-Germain’s 10-year unbeaten run in Spain when the two sides meet at La Ceramica on Tuesday, 03 November 2026, in matchday four of the Champions League league phase.
Paris Saint-Germain’s last defeat in Spain came in November 2015, when they were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu in the first stage of the Champions League. Nacho Fernandez scored the only goal of the match.
Since then, the French club have recorded four wins and one draw in Spain, all in the Champions League, under manager Luis Enrique.
Barcelona have suffered most during that period, losing to Paris Saint-Germain three times. The first defeat came in the 2020-21 last-16 tie, which Paris Saint-Germain won 4-1. The same scoreline was repeated in the quarter-finals of the 2023-24 competition, before Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-1 victory in last season’s league phase.
Their fourth win during the unbeaten sequence came against Real Sociedad, a 2-1 success in the last 16 of the 2023-24 Champions League. The only draw was a goalless match against Athletic Club in the first stage of last season’s competition.
The Villarreal fixture will be Paris Saint-Germain’s 12th visit to Spain. Across their previous 11 matches in the country, their record stands at six defeats, four wins and one draw.
Paris Saint-Germain’s first Spanish away game came in 1993 in the former UEFA Cup, when they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.
The club are the holders of the Champions League in the last two seasons.
