Youssef En-Nesyri continued his impressive form for Al-Ittihad by scoring a dramatic 90th-minute winner against Uzbekistan’s Neftchi in the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday.
The Morocco striker’s late effort secured a 2-1 victory for Al-Ittihad in the third round of the competition, lifting the Saudi club to four points from its opening three matches.
En-Nesyri’s decisive goal was particularly notable because it came directly from a free-kick. It was the first time the forward had scored in that manner, producing an unexpected finish that delighted Al-Ittihad supporters.
The result came after a difficult start to the club’s campaign in the tournament. Al-Ittihad had taken just one point from its first two matches, following a draw and a defeat, before recovering with a victory over Neftchi.
Reaction to En-Nesyri’s display was widespread, with supporters and commentators praising the level he showed and his contribution to guiding Al-Ittihad to an important win.
The goal also took the striker’s tally for Al-Ittihad this season to eight in all competitions. He has reached that total in 14 appearances, while also providing two assists across domestic and continental competitions.
Al-Ittihad’s next listed Saudi Pro League fixture is against Abha on 30 October 2026. The club is then scheduled to face Tractor in the AFC Champions League Elite on 02 November 2026, while Neftchi is also listed in the competition’s upcoming fixtures.
