Venezia have reached an agreement with local authorities to manage a new 18,500-capacity stadium for 40 years.
The arena is scheduled to open in the second half of the 2027-28 season and will host more than football matches. Concerts, festivals and other major events are also expected to take place there, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
Venezia will invest €125m in the project. That figure covers the completion of construction work, the stadium’s maintenance and concession payments throughout the 40-year agreement.
The new venue will replace the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, where Venezia have played their home matches for many years.
One of Italy’s oldest stadiums, the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo is located on the island of Sant’Elena and can be reached on foot or by boat. Its limited capacity and restricted facilities have long presented difficulties for the club.
The new stadium is intended to provide Venezia with a larger venue while also creating a setting for events beyond the club’s football fixtures.
