Former Internazionale midfielder Valero says the club performs better whenever Lautaro is on the pitch, describing the Argentina forward as a player capable of driving the team.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset, Valero assessed what he called a “surprising” start to the season and identified Roma as Internazionale’s main rival.
“There are indeed questions about some teams that have changed coaches,” Valero said. “Internazionale’s squad strength is superior to all other teams, and Roma is no longer surprising because Gasperini always does a good job.”
He added: “Without doubt, Roma will be Internazionale’s main rival, although there will be other contenders. Internazionale is still the team everyone wants to beat.”
Valero then highlighted Lautaro’s influence on Internazionale’s performances, saying the forward’s presence has a clear impact on the side’s overall level.
“He is a player who can drive the team; whenever he is on the pitch, the team plays better,” Valero said.
Asked whether Lautaro had established himself among the leading players in his position, Valero replied: “Yes. I think he has proven himself to be one of the best players in the league in his position.”
