Turkish giants Beşiktaş wait on Napoli signal in Anguissa chase

Cameroon international André-Frank Zambo Anguissa has emerged as one of the most closely watched African players in the summer transfer market, with Turkish giants Beşiktaş keen on securing his signature from Italian champions Napoli.

The midfielder has reportedly become a priority target for the Istanbul club, which views his experience, physical strength and midfield presence as qualities capable of strengthening the squad ahead of next season.

However, any move appears far from straightforward.

According to reports, Napoli have placed a valuation of between €20 million and €25 million on the Cameroonian international, a figure that has forced Beşiktaş to adopt a cautious approach as negotiations remain at an early stage.

The situation underlines the growing value of African footballers in Europe’s leading leagues, particularly players such as Anguissa, who have established themselves at the highest level of club football.

Having spent several years competing in elite European competitions, the 29-year-old midfielder has built a reputation as one of Africa’s most reliable central midfielders.

His ability to combine defensive discipline with ball-carrying power has made him an important figure both for Napoli and the Cameroon national team.

Beşiktaş are understood to believe that profile fits perfectly into their plans.

For now, though, the Turkish side is waiting for signs that Napoli may soften its stance regarding a potential transfer fee.

Rather than rushing into negotiations, club officials are reportedly monitoring developments while remaining ready to act should conditions become more favourable.

The strategy reflects the financial realities of the transfer market, where clubs are increasingly careful about major investments.

Anguissa’s future has attracted interest beyond Beşiktaş.

Reports indicate that rivals Galatasaray are also monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

The Istanbul club is said to be prepared to offer a lucrative salary package in an effort to convince the player should an opportunity arise.

That interest could increase competition for one of the continent’s most accomplished footballers and potentially drive up the overall cost of any deal.

While speculation continues, Anguissa remains a Napoli player and is reportedly focused on his current responsibilities.

The midfielder has enjoyed significant success in Italy since arriving from Fulham. Napoli completed the permanent transfer of the Cameroonian in May 2022, and he quickly became an important part of the team.

Among the highlights of his time in Naples were scoring his first UEFA Champions League goal during a 4-1 victory over Liverpool and registering his first Serie A goals with a brace against Torino.

His contribution was also instrumental in Napoli’s historic Serie A triumph, which ended the club’s long wait for a league title.

This season, Anguissa has made 18 appearances in Serie A, continuing to play a role in Napoli’s midfield setup.
