Trabzonspor are awaiting Mohamed Salah’s final response as they attempt to complete a summer move for the Egypt captain, with negotiations between the Turkish club and the Liverpool star reported to have reached an advanced stage.
According to Turkish newspaper 61 Saat, discussions have progressed significantly and Trabzonspor officials are now waiting for Salah to make a definitive decision before the transfer can be formally completed.
The report says Salah’s first request to the club’s management was for part of his salary to be paid in advance. Trabzonspor agreed to that demand immediately, in a move designed to narrow the gap between the two sides and help bring the negotiations to a conclusion.
No details have been given about the value or structure of the proposed contract. However, 61 Saat reports that the agreement over the advance payment has removed one of the issues under discussion as the club seeks to finalise the deal.
The newspaper adds that, unless there is an unexpected setback, Trabzonspor will send a private jet to Greece on Wednesday. The aircraft would take Salah to Istanbul before he travels onwards to the city of Trabzon to complete the remaining formalities of the proposed transfer.
The possibility of signing the Egyptian forward has generated considerable excitement among Trabzonspor supporters. The club’s management is preparing a special welcome for the player when he arrives, should the move be completed.
Salah’s arrival would represent the headline signing of Trabzonspor’s current market plans, although the club is also considering further changes to its attack. 61 Saat reports that the board intends to turn its attention to another attacking deal after concluding negotiations over the “Liverpool legend”.
Trabzonspor do not believe Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu would be sufficient to lead the forward line on his own. As a result, the club is expected to continue looking for an additional attacking option once the Salah file has been resolved.
The next decisions on the squad are expected to involve Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan and head coach Fatih Tekke. The newspaper says the club president will meet Tekke after the end of the pre-season training camp to determine which new signings should be pursued.
For now, the immediate focus remains on Salah’s answer. Trabzonspor have accepted his initial financial request and are preparing the logistics for his potential arrival, but the transfer will depend on the player giving his final approval and completing the necessary procedures in Istanbul and Trabzon.
