Trabzonspor will officially present new signing Mohamed Salah at Babara Park on Thursday evening, only hours after the Egypt captain arrived in Turkiye and completed the formalities of his move to the Turkish club.
The presentation ceremony is scheduled to begin at 19:30 local time, Trabzonspor said in an official statement. The club has invited supporters to attend wearing shirts from the new season as it begins what it described as an opportunity to “make history and take the first step on an unforgettable journey” alongside Salah.
The announcement followed Salah’s medical examination at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital, Trabzonspor’s medical partner. The checks were required before the final stages of his transfer could be completed.
Trabzonspor had earlier asked fans travelling to Trabzon Airport to welcome the player to avoid using private cars, with the club warning that large numbers of vehicles could create congestion. Supporters were also urged not to set off large quantities of flares, both to protect public safety and to avoid affecting air traffic.
The Turkish club confirmed on Wednesday that Salah had joined on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired, bringing to an end his nine-year spell at the Premier League club.
Several Turkish media reports have said that Salah has agreed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor. Those reports claim he will earn an annual salary of 17m euros, in addition to a series of bonuses and other benefits.
Trabzonspor have not publicly detailed the reported salary package, but the club has confirmed Salah’s arrival and is preparing a major public welcome at Babara Park.
The move begins a new chapter for the 33-year-old forward after an exceptional period with Liverpool. During his nine years at Anfield, Salah won a number of domestic, continental and world titles, while also establishing a long list of individual records and achievements.
His time at Liverpool made him one of the most prominent players in the club’s history and one of the leading figures of the Premier League era. His departure followed the conclusion of his agreement with the English side, allowing Trabzonspor to secure his services without a transfer fee.
The presentation ceremony will give Trabzonspor supporters their first opportunity to see their new star in the club’s colours. The event is also intended to mark the start of Salah’s next stage in professional football, with the club encouraging fans to take part in what it has framed as a historic occasion.
